Žygis, Zemgale

A forest near Dobele known for unusually hilly, ravine-cut terrain and dense clusters of stones piled into heaps, rows and "streams," a formation whose origin is debated and which draws both researchers and visitors who report sensing unusual energy there. About 15 km of marked trails cross the area, including an easier perimeter loop path suited to strollers, while the rugged interior routes make for a several-hour hike popular with orienteers. Entry is free and the forest is open year-round.
