On July 22, 1945, partisans of the Žebenkštis unit clashed with Soviet NKVD forces in Virtukai forest near the Lyduvėnai railway station. A memorial raised and consecrated in an oak grove in 1995 honors the fighters who died here, with further commemorative markers added in 2008 and 2018.
