Unguru Evaņģēliski luteriskā baznīca

Graži vieta, Zemgale

Built in 1828 as a subsidiary church of the Krustpils parish, this wooden Lutheran church stands in Medņi, in Variešu pagasts. By 1885 the building had fallen into disrepair, and repairs went ahead only after the owner of the Krustpils estate, Nikolaus von Korff, donated materials and money alongside contributions from the congregation, with the work supervised by church administrator Jēkabs Ozols; further restorations followed in 1892 and 1926. The steeple was destroyed by Soviet artillery fire during the Second World War, and the building has needed repair ever since. The congregation has been carrying out gradual restoration work since 2004.
