Didysis Dzūkijos akmuo

Graži vieta, Alytaus apskritis

The Great Dzūkija Stone (also called the Vangelonys Boulder) is the ninth-largest boulder in Lithuania, located in Vangelonys village, Nemunaitis eldership, Alytus district. It was declared a protected natural monument in 1964. Above ground it measures 3.82 m high, 7.1 m long, 4.58 m wide, with a maximum circumference of 18.03 m, and weighs about 176 tons. The boulder has been struck by lightning multiple times, leaving it cracked. According to legend, a devil, annoyed by the ringing of the Nemunaitis church bells, carried this massive stone here at night intending to destroy the church.
