Graži vieta, Žemaitija
The park in Žemalė grew out of a manor established around 1633-1634 by nobleman Wilhelm Berberius, later passing through the Pilsudski family before landing, from 1827, with zoologist and 1863-1864 uprising leader Severinas Aleksandras Grossas, who is credited with shaping its geometric layout and linden avenues. Of the original manor buildings only a clay barn survives, but the grounds have since been restored with flower beds, benches, swings, playground equipment and a stage added in 2015. Many of the old lindens are heavily hollowed and structurally weak, a 2005 storm alone brought down around 30 of them. It now functions as the main public green space for Žemalė village in Mažeikiai district.
