Graži vieta, Tauragės apskritis

The Lutheran parish in Jurbarkas was founded in 1851; a wooden church seating 500 was built in 1890 and a stone rectory added in 1900. The church was closed in 1952 under Soviet rule and the building repurposed as housing, but the community reformed and reopened in 1989. Construction of the current brick church began in 1994 to a design by architect Kazys Kazlauskas, and it was completed and consecrated in summer 2014. It houses a 1951 "Steinmeyer" concert organ with nearly 2,000 pipes and a 7-meter stained-glass cross by Rasa Grybaitė, hosts organ concerts and training programs, and is named after Lithuanian Lutheran poet-priest Kristijonas Donelaitis (1714-1780) as a symbol of Lithuanian-language Lutheran identity.
