"Knygnešių nuotykiai pasienyje": Smalininkai - Jurbarkas - Sudargas

Graži vieta, Tauragės apskritis

This roughly 5-hour, 36 km touring route, startable from either Jurbarkas or Smalininkai, traces Lithuania’s 19th-century book-smuggling (knygnešiai) heritage along the former German-Russian imperial border. In Smalininkai it visits the site of what was, for over 500 years, the longest inter-state border in Europe; in Jurbarkas it covers Catholic church sites and historic print shops; and in Sudargas it visits hillforts and the grave of Fr. Martynas Sederevičius, described locally as the "father of book smugglers."
