The upper platform of Punia hillfort is on one of Lithuania most famous hillforts, near the confluence of the Nemunas and Punelė. Alytus tourism information dates the hillfort to the late 14th or early 15th century, and the place is linked with the legend of Pilėnai and Duke Margiris. The top overlooks the Nemunas bend and Punia Forest.
