Pridotkų piliakalnis

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

Also known as the Pridotkai (Žukai) hillfort, this site on the right bank of the Vaja stream retains only a small circular platform, ringed by a rampart whose northwestern portion has eroded away. A 0.5-hectare foot settlement on its east side has yielded coarse and wheel-turned pottery and a spindle whorl, dating the site to roughly the first/second-millennium transition. Local legend says soldiers built it by carrying earth in their helmets, and that offerings were burned and money hidden at its summit.
