Established in 1971, Lahemaa was the first national park in the former Soviet Union and remains Estonia's oldest and largest, covering 725 km². Its name means "Land of Bays," and it features rocky coastal bays, bogs, and restored 18th-century manors including Palmse, Sagadi and Vihula.
