Randatu Klintis

Apžvalgos vieta, Vidzeme

Randātu klintis are dolomite cliffs on the right bank of the Gauja River near Vireši, rising about 26 metres, making them the tallest dolomite outcrop in Latvia since the Daugava valley was flooded. The exposure cuts through the Pļaviņa geological formation and displays fossils of brachiopods, snails, and stromatoporoids. The site is a protected geological and geomorphological nature monument, with a 1.2 km nature trail and information stands running past the outcrop.
