South of Põlva's town centre lies Intsikurmu, a 23.1-hectare park forest under nature protection that hosted some of Estonia's earliest joint song festivals, in 1855 and 1857. The wooded park today centers on a song stage that can hold roughly 3,500 singers, plus the 2.5 km Südamerada nature trail winding through the trees. It remains a working cultural venue, hosting the annual Intsikurmu festival and the Harmoonika accordion festival.
