Astravas Manor Bridge

Graži vieta, LT

This 51-meter bridge-dam crosses the Apaščia stream inside the 18-hectare park of Astravas manor near Biržai, built in 1858-1860 with a stone foundation and red-brick arches originally fitted with movable wooden gates, in a design often compared to a Roman aqueduct. Until 1986 it held back the waters of Širvėna Lake, feeding a canal that powered the manor's water mill; it was restored in 1996 and has been protected as part of the Astravas manor heritage complex since 1963.
