A multifunctional floating pontoon dock was installed in the boat channel at the Burtnieki center on Lake Burtnieks, in Valmiera Municipality, and was newly completed as of September 2026. It was built to universal-access standards in consultation with the disability organization Apeirons, giving people with mobility impairments a ramp and platform to reach the water for boating, swimming or fishing, alongside an upgraded access road from the parking area. Because Lake Burtnieks sees large water-level swings and winter ice movement, the dock is a seasonal installation in place from May 1 through October 31 and pulled ashore for winter storage.
