In the village of Vaiņode in Latvia's South Kurzeme region, Pižuka dīķis is a small pond with at least one islet reachable from its banks. The pond has hosted local community events, including a fireworks display staged over the water for Latvia's Republic Day, and on another occasion a burning fire sculpture set on the islet, whose reflection on the water artist Zigmunds Vilnis said doubled its visual effect.
