This house in Kaišiadorys was the home of Cardinal Vincentas Sladkevičius (1920-2000), born in Guronys village near Žasliai. Ordained priest in 1944 and consecrated bishop in 1957, he was exiled to Nemunėlio Radviliškis in 1959 for 16 years, became administrator of the Kaišiadorys diocese in 1982, was made a cardinal by Pope John Paul II in 1988, and served as Archbishop of Kaunas from 1989 until his 1996 retirement.
