This steel lattice tower on Hara Island in Kuusalu Parish began operating as a lighthouse in 1909, when it stood 16 meters tall with three lattice sections, a gallery, and a lantern room. In 1954 workers removed the gallery and lantern, welded on two additional sections, and reinstalled the top, raising the structure to its current 24 meters. During the 1980s its power source for the light was switched from liquid fuel to a radioisotope generator. The lighting apparatus was removed entirely in 1993, and the tower has since served only as an unlit daymark, guiding vessels by sight rather than by light.
