Raudna tehisjärve swimming spot

Maudykla, Viljandimaa

This bathing spot sits on the shore of Raudna tehisjärv, a 16.6 hectare artificial lake formed in a former sand and gravel quarry within the Raudna gorge of the Sakala Upland. The lake was part of the Raudna nature reserve from 1994 to 2019, and the swimming site today has a changing cabin, a rescue ring, and a water safety information stand. There are two entry points into the water: a gentler, gradually sloping one favored by children, and a steeper, rockier one used mainly by adult swimmers. Local residents have flagged the site's aging facilities, with proposals to add sand and a floating platform through the Viljandi rural municipality's participatory budget process.
