Owl Mountain

Apžvalgos vieta, Kauno apskritis

Rising above the Žaliakalnis district, this hill takes its name from a set of owl sculptures by sculptor Vincas Grybas that decorate the fence around the former Kaunas Art School building, erected on the site in 1922. Before that, the hill served as a military fortification in the early 1800s and later became a residential area for artists and intellectuals. Protected as a cultural monument since 2003, it offers open views over Kaunas Old Town, the city center, Vilijampolė, and the Neris River, though no formal observation platform has yet been built there.
