Tõotusemäe campfire site

Iškylos vieta, Parnumaa

This RMK-maintained campfire site sits in the Luitemaa Nature Reserve at the foot of Tõotusemägi hill, one of the highest points on Estonia's coastal ridge, about 162 km from Tallinn along the Tallinn-Pärnu-Ikla road. It offers a fire ring, benches, two picnic tables, a firewood shelter and an outdoor toilet, with parking for about 10 cars, and the 2.2 km Rannametsa-Tolkuse nature trail through dune, sandy and bog landscape begins across the road. The hill's name, meaning "Promise Hill," comes from a local legend in which storm-tossed sailors vowed to build a chapel if they reached shore safely, spotted the hill and made it to land, but never built the chapel.
