Graži vieta, Alytaus apskritis
Standing on the right bank of the Merkys River near the Vilnius-Varėna road in Akmuo village, this wooden church traces its origins to a 1759 chapel built by Lieutenant General Adam Brzostowski using traditional log-joining techniques without nails. After the Varėna parish church burned down during the First World War, priest Juozapas Stašys expanded the building into a full parish church, and it survives today as one of Lithuania's oldest wooden churches with a rectangular, house-like folk-architecture form. Its altar holds an 18th-century crucifix sculpture credited with miracles and surrounded by votive offerings, and a separate early 19th-century log belfry standing in front of the church holds three bells.
