Iškylos vieta, Vidzeme
This cable-stayed pedestrian bridge across the Gauja River was built in 1979, designed by engineer J. Zavickis and architect A. Ādmine, to create a circular hiking route through the Gauja ancient valley near Sigulda. It was built to redirect foot traffic away from the fragile Velnala sandstone cliffs, where visitors had previously walked directly above a cave with only about a meter of rock overhead; the old cliffside path was removed in 1980. The bridge and a rest area on the far bank offer views of the Velnala cliffs and the river.
