Gardų ozo trail

Pėsčiųjų takas, LT

The 1 km long hiking trail is 4.4 km from the Žemaičių Kalvarija town. It is set on Gardai esker. This is a distinctive, expressive form of relief in Lithuania. TheeEsker is a long narrow ridge composed mainly of sand and gravel. This ridge was formed from sediments that formed inside the glacier, in the melting streams of water 12-13 thousand years ago. A semicircular complex embankment - a ridge extends as far as 3.5 km to the north-west from the Varduva River in Žemaičiai Kalvarija. The height of the stall oasis from the base to the highest ridge in some places is 10-15 m. In Soviet times, there was a gravel quarry in this place, later an illegal rubbish dump. The environment is dominated by a landscape of open spaces with hills similar to loaves of bread. The trail is marked with signs. The pavement is made of gravel.
