Graži vieta, Tauragės apskritis
This hillfort rises on the right bank of the Jūra River just south of Matiškiai village, near the mouth of the Pylindaubis stream, in the Mažonai eldership of Tauragė district. Its triangular platform measures about 20 by 14 meters, bordered by an earthen rampart 23 meters long and 2.5 meters high, with an outer ditch 32 meters long, 10 meters wide and up to 1.7 meters deep. A wooden fortress stood on the site into the 15th century and was last reinforced around 1311 to 1314 by the Samogitian leader Mažonas during the wars against the Teutonic Order. A 1.2 hectare settlement area lies at the foot of the mound to the north, and the site is one of twelve registered hillforts in Tauragė district.
