Graži vieta, Zemgale

Set on the Bērze River near Dobele, this privately run park occupies the site of a 19th-century watermill complex completed in 1863, whose works once included a 55-meter dam, a 600-meter derivation canal and a 200-meter discharge channel. The mill operated commercially until 1940 and then under state management until 1972, after which it fell into disrepair until the property was returned to the original owners' heirs in 1991. Today the grounds are maintained by the family as a green space for picnics, family gatherings and small events, with a grain-processing business still running on part of the site since 1994.
