Recorded in written sources from the 16th century onward, Tendžiogala manor ran a spirits distillery until 1949 and, from the 15th to 18th centuries, served as the administrative center for a cluster of 22 manors and manor houses in the region. Interwar land reforms broke up and leased out the estate, and today visitors can see the striking ruins of the manor house and the remains of its former distillery.
