Kartena hillfort, also known as Pilis, Pilalė, Švedų or Lūžties Hill, stands on the left bank of the Minija opposite Kartena town. Protected-area information dates it to the 8th-13th centuries, and the top opens views of Kartena, the Minija bend and the valley. It is a good short stop in Salantai Regional Park.
