Graži vieta, Klaipėdos apskritis
Also known as Gedminų piliakalnis, Pelutės Kalnas or Muškalnis, this hillfort stands on the right bank of the upper Minija river near Dovilai, with spring-fed marshes bordering it on three sides. Dated to between the first millennium and the 12th century, its rectangular platform runs 110 meters long and 20 to 25 meters wide, defended by ramparts up to 2.5 meters high on the northeastern edge and a natural moat roughly 30 meters wide. Control of the site passed to the Livonian Order by the mid-13th century and later to the German Order and Prussia, only returning to Lithuania in 1923. In late 1944 it was dug into the Klaipėda defense line with a trench and concrete machine-gun emplacements, and archaeologists studied it in 1930 and again in 1966; the hillfort is now covered in deciduous forest.
