Danutės piliakalnis

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

One of three hillforts in the Lyduvėnai group, this earthwork stands about 350 meters southwest of the Lyduvėnai railway bridge, reinforced with ramparts and ditches and now overgrown with forest, offering views of the bridge from its top. Local legend says a castle once stood here and that the surrounding area's name, Lyduvėnai, echoes the grief of a duke's daughter, Danutė, whose beloved never returned from war.
