Paparčių hillfort (Pilies hill)

This hillfort near the confluence of the Žiežmara and Kotupis rivers has slopes reaching 27 to 28 meters high, with a flat plateau about 0.9 kilometers long and 0.4 kilometers wide. Local legend says a wooden castle once stood here, home to a duke, burned during wars with the Teutonic Knights; another legend says vestal priestesses kept a sacred fire here.
