Põhjakonn Stairs

Apžvalgos vieta, Harjumaa

This zigzagging staircase climbs a 50-meter limestone cliff (klint) at Haabneeme in Viimsi that emerged from the sea some 11,500 years ago, offering panoramic views from the top. It is known as Estonia's illuminated stairway with the greatest height difference, guarded by a rail on only one side, and is open year-round, 24 hours a day. Nearby sit the wood-chip Karulaugu health trail, outdoor exercise equipment, sculptures including one of the Põhjakonn ('northern frog'), and disused Soviet-era fuel storage tanks.
