First mentioned in 1719, Vaiguva's church became its own parish in 1776, and the current two-towered church dedicated to St. John the Baptist, with a bell tower on posts, was built in 1803-1804 with the support of Bishop Steponas Jonas Giedraitis. Built in folk architectural style with a rectangular plan, it holds three altars, and its churchyard, enclosed by stone walls with triple-arched ornamental gates, contains an original wooden bell tower built by folk craftsman M. Butvilas and a shrine cross.
