The Vilnius TV Tower, built in 1980, is the tallest structure in Lithuania at 326.5 meters. It is remembered as the site of the January 13, 1991 tragedy, when Soviet troops killed civilians defending it during Lithuania's struggle for independence - a memorial of crosses now stands at its base. The observation deck houses the revolving restaurant 'Paukščių takas' (Milky Way), offering panoramic views over Vilnius and its surroundings.
