Ringed by one of Lithuania’s largest raised bogs, the roughly 8-square-kilometer Notigalė aukštapelkė, this nearly 92-hectare lake sits about 8 kilometers northeast of Skapiškis and is protected within the Notigalė telmological reserve. A rest area built on the eastern shore gives visitors access to the water and the surrounding pine and birch forest. During the postwar anti-Soviet resistance, a partisan unit led by Jonas Šiupinis-Bermontas reportedly hid out in the bog.
