The first wooden church on this site in Ariogala was built around 1416 on the initiative of Grand Duke Vytautas, later rebuilt several times after repeated fires and destroyed again by fire on Silvestras Žukauskas's orders during the First World War. The current red brick church, designed by architect Pejeris, was completed in 1939 through the efforts of priest Antanas Simanavičius.
