The Vecekrug observation tower is located at the Vecekrug dune in the Curonian Spit, in the surroundings of the Karvaičiai landscape reserve, near Preila. In the sources of the Curonian Spit National Park, Vecekrug dune is mentioned as an important natural heritage object, and in other public sources it is described as the highest place of the Curonian Spit dunes, reaching about 67 m above sea level. The tower and wooden walkways make it safer to explore the sensitive dune landscape without disturbing the slopes. From this place you can see the forests, dunes and the narrowness of the Curonian Spit, making it a valuable stop between Preila and Nida. It is necessary to walk only on established paths, because even a small step in the dunes causes damage in the long run.
