The Garden of Light is a circular park in Ludza opened on 9 June 2018 as a joint project of four Latgale municipalities: Ludza, Kārsava, Cibla and Zilupe. Its layout has eight radiating paths symbolizing the eight traditional seasonal festivals of the Latvian calendar, with four main avenues each planted with a different tree species representing one of the partner municipalities: poplars for Ludza, birches for Kārsava, ash for Cibla and maples for Zilupe. A sun symbol reflected in a small well sits at the center, and each avenue ends in a metal Latvian folk symbol. The park is a free public space with an information stand, resting places and waste bins.
