Lake Aluksne is an 11th-largest lake in Latvia, covering about 15.4 sq km near Aluksne town in the Aluksne Highlands. Four wooded islands dot the lake, and the largest one holds the ruins of Marienburg Castle, built in 1342. It's a popular fishing spot stocked with pike, perch, carp, and tench.
