Partizanų koplyčia Kaišiadorių kapinėse

Graži vieta, Kauno apskritis

This chapel in the center of Kaišiadorys town cemetery, built 1993-1998, honors partisans of the Didžiosios Kovos apygarda. Nine partisans killed on March 3, 1947 near Kaišiadorėliai village were secretly buried in gravel pits nearby; their remains were found and reburied here on October 6, 1990. Designed by local architect Stasys Petrauskas, with sculptures by Audronė Skarbaliūtė and stained glass by professor Kazys Morkūnas, the chapel was consecrated on August 23, 1998 by former political prisoner and Kaišiadorys diocese chancellor, prelate Jonas Jonys. Black granite plaques on its walls list 358 partisans' names.
