Šūpalas is an informal, unofficial swimming spot on the shore of Lake Alūksne (Alūksnes ezers), reached from the road linking the villages of Lāzberģis and Šļukums in Mārkalnes pagasts. The site has no beach infrastructure, and a 70 km/h limit was posted on the adjoining gravel road after residents complained about dust raised by passing cars. It functions as a local lake bathing spot rather than a developed public beach.
