Stūķu iezis

Stūķu iezis is a 90-meter-long sandstone outcrop rising up to 40 meters on the Amata River's bank in Drabešu parish, within Gauja National Park. The cliff exposes Middle and Upper Devonian sandstone layers, including a roughly 7-meter band of white, fine-grained sandstone with wave ripple marks and mud laminae left by ancient tidal action. A spring emerges at its base, and the outcrop is a stop on the Amata Geological Nature Trail; it is protected as a geological and geomorphological nature monument, though the exposure is threatened by landslides and overgrowth.
