Verpenos Šv. Onos bažnyčia

Graži vieta, Šiaulių apskritis

Built in 1775 on the initiative of Count Valavičius, this modest wooden folk-style church in Verpena has a rectangular plan, a single tower and a single nave, echoing the design of Kelmė's brick Evangelical Reformed church. While Kelmė's main church was under construction from 1901 to 1908, its Catholic parishioners worshipped here instead, and a tradition endures of processions walking 1.5 kilometers from Kelmė to Verpena for the feast of St. Anne.
