This mound sits on a peninsula in reed-covered Lake Kaņieris, one of Latvia's top birdwatching spots with 237 recorded species, and has a birdwatching tower. It's traditionally called a hillfort, though it has never been archaeologically excavated and its age and original purpose remain disputed among historians.
