Rising from the banks of the Kuja River in Prauliena Parish, this granite boulder is the largest stone in Vidzeme and the second-largest in Latvia by volume, measuring 6.4 meters long, 6 meters wide, and 4 meters high, with a volume of roughly 100 cubic meters. Local folklore holds that the devil used a plough blade as a needle to mend his trousers here after tearing them while trying to dam the Aiviekste River, giving the stone its name, Velna Skroderis (the Devil's Tailor). The boulder was fully uncovered only in 1982 during works to regulate the Kuja River, and a rope footbridge crossing the river to a nearby farmyard now rests on it.
