Built between 1757 and 1763 in a late Baroque style, this church in Kražiai became a symbol of Catholic and Lithuanian identity after the Kražiai Massacre of November 22, 1893, when tsarist Cossacks violently confronted locals defending the church from closure, leaving 9 dead and 50 wounded.
