This bathing spot lies on the lower, larger basin of Paala järv in Viljandi’s Paalalinna district, where the town maintains an official swimming beach with a playground. Lifeguards supervise the water daily from 12:00 to 20:00 during the official season, June 1 to August 31, and a green flag is raised at the beach only when water quality testing allows swimming. In winter the same lake becomes a popular natural ice skating route, maintained by a local cycling club when ice conditions are safe.
