Žagarė Regional Park, established in 1992, protects the Švėtė river valley and the historic Žagarė landscape across roughly 7,140 hectares of mostly forest. It's known for the long Žagarė esker ridge, the Mūšos Tyrelis bog with rare protected orchids, and a distinctive local wild-cherry variety called žagarvyšnės. The park also takes in the old town of Žagarė, a baroque church, and the historic Žagarė manor park.
