Raganos uosis (the Witch's Ash) grows in Platelių manor park within Žemaitija National Park, near Plateliai in Plungė district. It is the thickest ash tree in Lithuania, over 200 years old, standing 30.5 meters tall with a trunk circumference of 7.56 meters. Local legend says a piece of bread became lodged in its trunk after a witch who had stolen it fell into the tree at a rooster's crow; other tales describe it as a nighttime gathering place for witches or as several ash trees that grew together into one trunk.
