Every year in late June, the small village of Tänassilma in Viljandi Parish holds its Midsummer bonfire at the village hall square, as part of a joint community day shared with the neighboring villages of Uusna and Valma. The program typically pairs a family festival at the Tänassilma outdoor stage, with food stalls, a lottery and folk dance performances, with an evening bonfire lit around 9 PM to live music and games for both children and adults. Tänassilma itself is a village of roughly 150 residents south of Viljandi town, formerly part of Viiratsi Parish before the 2013 administrative reform.
