Also known as Palemono kalnas, this hillfort occupies a promontory on the upper terrace of the Nemunas river at the western edge of Seredžius, shaped by the small Pieštvė stream. Its roughly triangular platform is about 50 meters long and up to 35 meters wide, defended by a rampart rising 7 meters with a 9-meter outer slope and a ditch 4 meters deep, plus a second, lower rampart further out. Archaeologists date use of the site from the mid-1st millennium to the early 15th century: a wooden castle called Pieštvė stood here from 1293, survived at least six sieges by the Teutonic Order, and finally fell in April 1363. On the northeastern slope lies St. John's spring, long a local pilgrimage site.
